Importing sales data without the balance sheets being classified can lead to inaccuracies and inconsistencies in your financial records. To rectify this, the entries imported for the mentioned period need to be manually updated in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Features in Docyt:
-
Docyt includes a field called "Location" on the business interface, which allows users to set a specific location name.
-
When exporting data from QuickBooks (QB) Desktop, the "Class" value can be included in the "Class" column of the .IIF file, if the "Department(Class)" is specified.
-
If the "Location" column is specified and there are no Departments(Classes) in Docyt, the "Location" value can be included in the "Class" column of the .IIF file when exporting data from QB Desktop.
-
When both "Department(Class)" and "Location" are specified, both will be included in the "Class" and "Location" columns respectively of the .IIF file when exporting data for QB Desktop.
How to Use these Features:
Adding a Location Field to Your Business Profile
Navigate to the business profile page and go to the accounting section. There, you will see the "Location" text-box field. You can enter a location in this box, and the information will be saved when you move on to the next step or click the "NEXT" button.
Exporting Revenue Category Data with a Specified Department(Class) but No Location
When you have revenue category data (Profit & Loss accounts) ready for export to QBD and a department (class) is present for each revenue category but Location is not set in the business profile, the system will use the department (class) value as the class name in the .IIF file's class column during the export process.
Exporting Revenue Category Data with a Specified Location but No Department(Class)
In the case that a department (class) isn't present for each revenue category or there are no Department(class) in Docyt, but a Location is set in the business profile, the system will use the location saved in the business profile as the class column in the .IIF file for each revenue category during the QBD export process.
Exporting Revenue Category Data with Both Department(Class) and Location Specified
If both a department (class) and a location are present, the system will use both the department (class) value and the Location value in their respective columns in the .IIF file during the QBD export process.
Exporting Non-Revenue Category Data with a Specified Location
When you have non-revenue category data (Balance sheet accounts) ready for export to QBD, the system will use the location saved in the business profile as the class in the .IIF file for each non-revenue category during the QBD export process.
Exporting Non-Revenue Category Data without a Specified Location
In the case that a location is not set in the business profile, the class column in the .IIF file for each non-revenue category will remain empty during the QBD export process.
Please note that .IIF File does support both location and classes. For more information on this, check out the appropriate documentation.
